Counseling Office-Mrs. Rush

Welcome!  My name is Mrs. Rush. I am a school counselor at Chuckey Doak Middle School. My office hours are 7:50 AM-2:50 PM.  Please feel free to contact me by phone at 787-2038 or by email danielle.rush@gcstn.org.  I am also the Parent Involvement Coordinator for our school.
Our counseling team provides instruction through classroom lessons, small group counseling and individual counseling.  We follow Tennessee school counseling guidelines https://www.tn.gov/education/student-support/school-counseling.html.
School counseling standards address Academic Development, Social and Personal Development and College and Career Development.
If you are in need of any supports for your child, please contact me so I can assist you.  We work closely with the Family Resource Center to help meet the needs of our students.
My goal is to help my students and their families with their needs, in order to be successful in the classroom and in life.
I am very proud to say that I graduated from Chuckey Doak High School in 1994, when our current school was the high school. After I graduated from CDHS, I received an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development from Walters State Community College. I transferred to East Tennessee State University and received a Bachelor's Degree in Child and Family Studies.  I have worked at several state agencies helping families and students. After working for several years, I went back to school and received a Master's Degree from University of Kentucky in Rehabilitation Counseling. I loved my work with high school students, so I  decided to take some more classes at East Tennessee State University in order to meet the requirements for School Counseling License. I have been the School Counselor at CDMS since 2012.
