Mrs. Arrowood's Biography

My name is Candice Arrowood, and I teach social studies at Chuckey-Doak Middle School.  I have been teaching now for 18 years - geez!  I don't feel old enough to say that!

I started my teaching career at Ottway Elementary School as an English/Language Arts teacher.  Then I moved to CDMS.  I have taught grades 6-8 in ELA and 6th grade in Social Studies.  For the past seven years, I have been in 6th Social Studies.

For as long as I can remember, I knew I wanted to be a teacher.  I have always loved kids, and I'm so thankful I get to spend each day doing something I love.  It's not the subject I teach although I do love history - it's the kids!

Although many students may find this hard to believe, I'm more than just a teacher.  When I was a kid, I thought my teachers lived at school!  Just kidding!

I wear many hats in my life - teacher being one of them.  I'm also a wife and mom.  My husband Josh is also a middle school teacher in Greene County at South Greene Middle School.  He stays busy which keeps me busy in return.  We have three children together - Will, Reagan, and Madi - ages 14, 13, and almost 5!  Our kids are involved in every sport on the planet it seems - so we have a very busy schedule most days.  We are also active in our church.  Our best and most favorite days are the ones without plans - the days we can spend home together just hanging out.  They are few and far between, but we love them!

A few other details about me:
I like to read.
I love the beach - I spend 2-3 weeks there each year!
I met the President face to face and got his signature!
My brother played basketball for the Globetrotters.
I am a super proud big sister to my brother and sister and aunt to 6 nieces and nephews.
I love to watch sports at every level - my kids, my students, professionals - all of it!
I hum all the time and like to sing - but not by myself and not in front of an audience.
I am super shy and get very nervous speaking in front of adults.
I'm very competitive - if I play, I want to win.
I got to travel around the United States as a kid doing bible competitions - visited many states that way - California, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Michigan, Illinois, North Carolina, Arkansas, Kentucky, and maybe more - I can't remember.  We even went to Canada and Mexico!
